Discuss: Do you think the budget as populist for elections?
This thread is to discuss the opinion poll topic 'Do you think the budget as populist for elections?'.There are different opinions on the budget. One set of people believe that since there will be elections to about 5 states, the present Government wanted to impress the people at large that it is a pro people Government and get the support and sympathy for getting elected to the assemblies in the 5 states.
Another group feels that Sri Mukherji is gradually brining in some changes in fiscal policies keeping the manifesto of the UPA.
Third group feels that it will not be possible for any democratic Government to bring in drastic changes and take drastic steps to bring in the black money. Hence it is a practical budget.
4th group feels that if the Government has to tackle the financial crisis effectively, it will have to take drastic steps like removing subsidies to items like petrol, diesel, kerosene, fertilizers and a number of other items. This will affect the overwhelming majority of the population and will cause revolt. Hence this the budget possible at the present juncture.
Another group feels that this budget is having emphasis on social security aspects and given importance to educational, health, food sector so as to help out the poor.
