Census- hard work behind the collection
In India every tenth year (the year ending in 1) census data are collected. The latest data collection done in 2011 is over and the preliminary results are published. For the data collection in 2011, there were a total of 27 lakh enumerators and supervisors. They were trained by another 54,000 master trainers. 54 lakh manuals in 18 languages were printed for this purpose.
For the printing of these manuals and related forms 8000 tons of paper was used.
For the data processing high speed scanners and other gadgets were simultaneously used in 15 centres.
For the whole census related works a total of Rs. 2200 crore was spent. That means more than 18 rupees were spent for each one of us.
So for counting our number the authorities need this much hardship.
