Film star Sathyan left us forty years back
Forty years have passed since the Malayalam film's Hero Sathyan left the scene. It was on the fifteenth of June, 1971 Sathyan left the malayalam filmdom leaving a gap which was not filled in a sense. His realistic way of acting and presenting the dialogue flowingly can never be removed from the minds of film goers.Sathyanesan was born on 9th of November 1912 near Trivandrum. He studied up to intermediate and then joined the military. After serving the military for a few years left it to take up the Sub Inspector's post in the then Travancore police.
In student days, Sathyan acted in dramas and was interested in that. When appropriate chance came to him he took up acting as a career after resigning from the police department. Unfortunately, his first film, 'Thyaga seema' was not completed. In 1952, the film 'Atma sakhi', in which he acted as hero was released and as an actor he got the attention from the public. However, it was Neelakuyil directed jointly by Ramu Karyat and P.Bhaskaran, helped Sathyan to get established as a film star. The film won national recognition and which further boosted his image.
Sathyan's roles in Chemmeen, Mutiyanaya Puthran, Otayil ninnu, Vazhve Mayam, Anubhavangal Palichakal, etc. are well rembered by almost every Malayalam cine goers. In Chemmeen, which won the President's Gold Medal, his role as Pazhani, a rude fisherman, is even now quoted as a typical characterization. Altogether he acted in more than 150 films including a couple of Tamil films.
Sathyan was to complete 100 years next year.
