Electricity charges to go up in Kerala

The government informed that all power consumers in the state have to pay a surcharge of 25 paise per unit for six months from October. The government informed that this is applicable only for those consumers whose monthly use is more than 120 units. The government will incur a lose of Rs 54 crore due to this.

The finance ministry has accepted the proposal put forward by the KSEB regarding this. This extra charge will be used to equalize the loss faced by KSEB in buying electricity from the neighbouring states. The department has told that this will be followed for 6 months

What ever may be the decision of government, but the common citizens have to suffer. The things have turned up in such a condition. 2 weeks before, the price of petrol was increased. So we should not sit idle and must act upon against activities.

Hi Ibrahim.
As you said common man is now suffer a lot to live with his income. All product's price is increasing accordingly because of various reasons. Now the Electricity Board decided to take surcharge from people. Surcharge is only applicable to those whose monthly usage is above 120 units. That's fine. So we should carefully use electricity. Don't waste electricity, note that our Government borrow electricity from other states. Use electricity for useful things is the only way to overcome this situation. So that the surcharge will not affect us.

Because of the increased rate of petrol other commodities price are also increaseing; as they put extra transportation charge.
Altogether the common people faces the problem. Usually they cannot make a proper family budget if the price of produces rapidly increases. So be careful with your income's utilization.

The all prodect increased the world market.because a various reasons is the world based not only india or kerala.petrol and other prodect is a high price in the market . The consumers whose monthly use is more than 120 units those only paid surcharge.so we use electricity carefully surcharge not effect any consumer.

To add to this KSEB has started load shedding also from yesterday (29.9.11) on-wards. They said half an hour cut between 7.00 to 11.00 pm. But in our place it was from 7.00 to 7.30 pm and again between 9.30 to 10.00 pm. So a total of one hour power cut !
