Fish food contains a substance called 'omega 3 fatty acid'which controls the blood cholesterol level.

Fish food is good for health because it contains omega 3 fatty acids and it reduces the chances for causing cardiovascular diseases. Salt water fish is preferably good than fresh water fish. The doctors normally prefer patients to consume fish than meat and chicken because of its nutritious value.
But now a days the fish food also contains unwanted minerals like mercury due to the pollution of water. These minerals can cause health hazards if the fish food is not properly cleaned before consumption.

Fishes are loaded with Omega- 3- fatty acids which prevents heart diseases. Omega-3-fatty acids are also good for healthy brain. Fishes are good for health, but eating the wrong kinds of fish too often can raise the level of mercury in your body. This is especially dangerous for pregnant and breast feeding women because, fetuses and newborns are very sensitive to mercury. Choose fish that are low in mercury, Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) and other contaminates. All fish contain traces of mercury. But King Mackerel, Shark, Tile fish, Tuna steak and Sword fish contain highest mercury. It is better to avoid these fishes for every one. Pregnant ladies, nursing mothers and young children should not eat these fishes.

Fish is definitely a nutritious food. Fried preparations are not generally welcome, since it may contain oil more which is fat and adds to cholesterol deposit.
Kerala people consume more fish compared to others in India. A rough estimate gives it almost as double that of India's consumption rate.
Fish meat is better than red meats.

Fish food is certainly a good nutrition. In addition with Omega-3-fatty acids, they are rich with calcium which is very good for our teeth and bones. Fishes are also sources of some rare salts. I am not in an opinion for the fish to be eaten without cooking, but there are countries in which people used to eat fresh fish without cooking. The best example is the biggest fish eaters in the world, The Japanese. They used to eat the fishes which are decorated most rather than its taste. And the good thing about Japanese is that they are so strong even in thier olden ages. The secret behind their health may be the raw foods they are eating. It is said that 60 percentage of the nutritive value will be decreased while cooking.
