Generally, people of Kerala are happy with Hartals. This time the Human Rights Commission has come out with the dictum that action will be initiated against those who are behind hartals. If anybody indulge in actions like preventing them from their duties will be taken into custody.
At the same time today's newspaper carries another report that there is a person who welcomed the diesel price hike. It is nobody other than the Vice Chairman of Planning Commission, Montek Singh Aluvaliah, who said the other day that all paddy fields in Kerala should be converted into other uses like industrial and residential purposes. We, the Kerala people though depend on rice need not produce it here !

Hartal is usually a word that relaxed the hectic schedules in Kerala. Only the word has such effects on the minds of people that now it has become a common remedy to our busy lives!
Yet another hartal, this time on the price hike on diesel. Government have come up with a legal notice to take action against any violent protests on this day. Good, atleast the public and private properties stay safe!
Whenever there is a strike or hartal the first thing that bothers me are the vandalistic of public and private properties by the enraged mobs. They simply go around with metal rods and petrol bottles to set on fire or to smash any vehicle or shops that set out.
