Malayalam is going to be Classical soon
After years of political gimmicks, Malayalam is going to get its clearance. Academics and language lovers have been clamoring for the status of Classic language for Malayalam since long back. It was not getting support from certain corners of the authorities. Finally it has almost crossed all hurdles and the final decision will be through soon as per reports coming from the Capital.All the South Indian languages other than Malayalam is enjoying this status. Malayalam though spoken by more than 30 million people and having a support of very rich literature with a standing of centuries was not considered for this. Now with the initiative of the previous LDF Government and the follow up of the present UDF Government the status is almost through.
