Sreesanth arrested – Spot Match Fixing


Sreesanth arrested for charges spot match fixing in Pepsi IPL along with two of his teammates of Rajasthen Royals, Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila. Indian fast bowler Shanthakumaran Sreesanth who also plays for the 'Rajasthan Royals' owned by the Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty, has been arrested for the charges of spot fixing that he did in Pepsi IPL 2013 along with his teammates who had played with him for the Royals, Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila by the Delhi Police. Delhi Police arrested S. Sreesanth from Mumbai where he was staying in his friend's house. The other two players were also arrested from a hotel at Nariman Point along with their team. The arrest took suddenly when they went to the hotel after the match against 'Mumbai Indians' which was placed in Wankhede Stadium and it was due to a phone tapping by the IANS to the Delhi Police. Mumbai Indians had won the match by 14 runs, thus increasing the doubt upon them. The three Rajasthan players are forced to move to Delhi were they will be further questioned on the match fixing that they would have done.

Besides the telephone records, the investigators also got some messages from 'BBM' and 'Whatapp' about this incident. They are now charged under section 420 and 120B for their cheating and criminal offense. Chandila and Chavan said that they are completely surprised and they will definitely co-operate with the questioning made by the authorities. Rajiv Shukla, the chairman of IPL was waiting for the incident. BCCI decides to suspend the pacer S. Sreesanth and the other two men for this crime and will take strict actions against them if proved to be guilty. Rajasthan Royals CEO said that they have nothing to do with the incident and would take strong action without mercy for these players if proved guilty as this will remain as a shame for the BCCI and for all true Cricket lovers of India.

Police arrested a total of 10 bookies from Delhi and Mumbai of this case. They are searching for two bookers too from Delhi. More evidences are being searched by the police and are checking for some hints that they could get from videos of the particular match. It is said that Sreesanth had tucked his towel in his pants to indicate the bidders to start bidding. But Sreesants mother sincerely says that her son is not guilty and may be cheated by some of his teammates who does not like Sreesanth and has anger towards him personally. She is praying that the investigation would end up by proving her son innocent.
