The main event of Independence day is conducted at Red Fort in the capital city of India which includes a grand parade and many other cultural events. The Prime Minister of India unfurls the flag in the capital city. Flag is hoisted at all local administrations in every state.
Hon'ble President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee Will Address to the Nation on the eve of Commemoration of 66 years of Independence on 14 Aug 2013 at 7:00 PM IST. The major actions of the Inependence day celebration takes place at the red fort on 15th August morning. The Prime Minister of India unfurls the National flag in the presence of all dignitaries. In his speech, the prime minister highlights the past year's achievements, raises important issues and calls for further development. He pays tribute to the leaders of the freedom struggle.
