CPM's silence over KGB issue - Krishnayyar is so innocent

Yesterday, Justice V.R. Krishna Iyer came down heavily on the CPM leadership for its silence on the alleged allegations raised against former CJI and NHRC chief KG Balakrishnan and his family. He opined that an allegation against former CJI is embarrassing for the whole judicial system.

And as a reply to this (not publishing any comment in their newspapers about this issue), Kodiyeri Balakrishnan explained that, it is party's freedom to comment or not to comment, and there is only one restriction to the party media, ie, not to publish anything which may come against the party. He also explained that, party leaders have no relation with alleged members.

It is clear that, if there is an enquiry into this issue, it will lead to the lavalin case and may come againt the party. And, hence the party media is obeying the restiction.

There was some rumor that KGB was the special (secret) consultant of Pinarayi team for their Lavalin Case, and Srinijan was claiming yesterday that, his only source of income is the job as an advocate. And, for advocates, the limit of fees is the sky in some cases, as per advocates opinion.

The CPI(M) is a party of opportunists. They respond to those issues that are convenient to them. In this particular case, a dalit CJI is involved, so they will have to think a thousand times before issuing any public statements against him. Also, with the Lavalin issue, the clean image of the party has taken a severe beating. How can they blame KGB, when their own party sec is involved in a major scam, the kind of which Kerala had never witnessed before.

Any political party in India is opportunist. When the only issue, only principle, only ideology, only aim is power, either to cling on to power or try to grab the same we cannot expect any party giving opinion which affects them. The CPM in the olden days had some credibility and image. Due to the infighting for power and keeping aside the principles only for election propaganda to fool public, their credibility is zero. Hence I do not find any reason as to why Mr V R Krishna Iyer should bother about the CPM not giving an opinion.
