Grand Kerala Shopping Festival is a unique shopping festival conducted by the Tourism Department of Kerala along with Finance and Industries and Commerce department. The GKSF is actually conducted as a part of developing the tourism, promoting the industries and to give a memorable shopping experience to domestic and international customers. This shopping festival was first started on 1st December 2007 for 45 days and it was a great success. Then it became a traditional shopping festival for Kerala, the God's own country.
What's new in Grand Kerala Shopping Festival Season 6?
Grand Kerala Shopping Festival 2012 is the 6th shopping festival conducted in Kerala. GKSF season 6 is from 15th 2012 December to 31st January 2013. The main attraction of this season is the Global Village organized in Kochi from 22nd December 2012 to 9th January 2012. The Global Village is divided into six pavilions or sections. The Kerala Pavilion has traditional art forms, handicrafts and stalls for ayurvedic treatment and medicines. The National Pavilion consists of products and art forms from other states in India. The Brand Pavilion is a show case for world's leading brand. The Food Court has delicious food items including the international, Indian and traditional Kerala dishes. Amusement park stall is one of the first of its kind among the GKSF, it's a great opportunity for the amusement park equipment suppliers to introduce their devices to the world. 
Another attractive event in Grand Kerala Shopping Festival is the Mangalam Waynad Tea Festival organized by the Mangalam publications in Wayanad. This event is from 28th December 2012 to 6th January 2013 and it exhibits variety of tea flavors available in Kerala. They are also conducting food fest and a live stage show in the evenings.How to participate in GKSF Season 6?
The only requirement to participate in GKSF 2012 is that the participating shop must be registered under the Shop and Establishment Act industries and all commercial institutions. Each shop can be registered under any of the three categories, Gold, Silver or General. The first two categories are paid categories and shops under them will get higher privileges like free coupons, door/floor stickers, banners etc. The registration fee for Gold category is Rs.20000, for Silver its Rs 5000 and for General category it's free. Shops can be registered online through www.shoppingfestival.in or through Akshay centers in Kerala.What are the benefits in purchasing from GKSF 2012 as a customer?
As this shopping festival is to promote the tourism and industries in Kerala, Government is giving all support to give an awesome experience to the customers. For tourists visiting and purchasing in GKSF, from outside Kerala is given a 100% VAT refund in this festival season.
