Early Life
Dalma Kurien is better known by her stage name Mithra Kurien. She is a young Malayalam actress who was born on 15th May 1989 at Perumbavoor of Ernakulam district, Kerala. In the early days she used to concentrate on modeling and was a known model in South India but now she is active in Malayalam and Tamil films too.Filmography
Mithra Kurien's first appearance in the silver screen was through the Malayalam movie "Vismayathumbathu", directed by Fazil. Even though it was just a cameo appearance, she was lucky enough to act with Mohanlal and Nayanthara in her first movie itself. In 2005, she appeared in a film "Mayookham", directed by T. Hariharan. In this movie she appeared in a supporting role as Unni's (Saiju Kurup) sister. Then for a while Mithra took a break and she concentrated on her studies.
Again in the year 2008, Mithra came back into the film industry through a Tamil film "Sadhu Miranda", directed by Siddique. The director has seen her picture in the cover page of an issue of the Malayalam magazine 'Grihalakshmi', that is how he has selected her for the Tamil film. That was her first Tamil movie and she did a supporting role here too. After this movie, she acted in another Tamil movie "Suriyan Satta Kalloori" in the year 2009. It was a low budget movie.
Mithra Kurien made her came-back in Malayalam through the movie "Gulumaal", directed by V. K. Prakash. It was a comedy film and she gave life to the character 'Seira', a supporting role. In the year 2010, she got the opportunity to act in the Malayalam movie "Body Guard", directed by Siddique. Even though this film was declared a flop at the box-office, Mithra has got a much more notable role in this film. Her next film "Rama Raavanan", directed by Biju Vattappara gave her the opportunity to play the female lead role for the first time in Malayalam. In this movies, her character was 'Manomi' who is in love with 'Thiruchelvam' (Suresh Gopi). thus her first hero in Malayalam was a superstar and action hero.
From then the climate was favorable to Mithra. She got to play the lead role in a Malayalam comedy film "Note Out", directed by Kutty Naduvil. In Tamil her next venture was "Kaavalan", directed by Siddique. Mithra played the supporting role in this romantic movie too. But her acting in this movie was excellent and she was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress. Then we could see Mithra as 'Kalyani' in the movie "Ulakam Chuttum Valiban", directed by Raj Babu and as 'Sheetal' in the movie "Masters", directed by Johny Antony.
Mithra played a role in the Malayalam movie "Grandmaster", directed by B. Unnikrishnan. She played the supporting role in this movie. Then she appeared in the Tamil movie "Karikalan", directed by A.
