What is CTET- July 2013

Schools under the central government, Navodaya, and schools under central administrative places like Chandigarh, Andaman etc considers CTET exam as an eligibility criteria for appointing teachers for class 1 to 8. State government/ aided/ unaided schools can also consider CTET eligibility if necessary. CTET certificate has the validity of 7 years. CTET exam 2013 is being conducting by CBSE on July 28 2013 all over India. In Kerala, examination centers are spread in Kochi, Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram districts.

What are the eligibility criteria for applying CTET-July 2013 exam?

Minimum Educational Qualifications for becoming a Teacher for Classes I-V (Primary Stage)

  • Candidates must have passed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with minimum50% marks and have passed or is appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
    OR
  • Candidates must have passed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with minimum 45% marks and have passed or is appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002.
    OR
  • Candidates must have passed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with minimum 50% marks and have passed or is appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
    OR
  • Candidates must have passed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with minimum 50% marks and have passed or is appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)*.
    OR
  • Candidates must have passed Graduation and have passed or is appearing in final year of two year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).


Minimum Educational Qualifications for becoming Teacher for Classes VI-VIII (Elementary Stage)

  • Candidates must have passed Graduation and have passed or is appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
    OR
  • Candidates need to have Graduation with minimum of 50% marks and have passed or is appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
    OR
  • Candidates need to have Graduation with minimum 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard.
    OR
  • Candidates must have passed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with minimum 50% marks and have passed or is appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
    OR
  • Candidates must have passed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with minimum 50% marks and have passed or is appearing in final year of 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A. Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
    OR
  • Candidates need to have Graduation with minimum 50% marks and have passed or is appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education)*

Schedule of CTET examination 2013


The Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi has been conducting the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) for candidates as an eligibility criteria for candidates to join as a teacher in CBSE schools from Grade I to VIII. Candidates should apply On-line for CTET-July 2013 before April 16 2013 through CBSE/CTET website. This year the exam is scheduled on July 28 2013.

Time table of CTET is as follows.

  • 28.7.2013 PAPER - I 10.30 TO 12.00 HOURS 1.30 HOURS
  • 28.7.2013 PAPER - II 13.30 TO 15.00 HOURS 1.30 HOUR


Fees for CTET July 2013


Candidates who belong to OBC/General category should remit Rs 500 for one paper and Rs 800 if they are appearing for both paper. Candidates who belong to SC/ST/Differently Abled Person category should remit Rs 250 for one paper and Rs 800 if they appear for both paper. The candidates need to remit the fee through Demand Draft in favor of the Secretary, Central Board of Secondary Education drawn in any Nationalized Bank payable at Delhi. Candidate must write their Registration Number, Name, Address, and Mobile/Telephone Number on the back of the Demand Draft.
