•Raw rice – 910 gm
•Coconut – 1
•Small onions – 225 gm
•Cumin – 2 teaspoon
•Garlic – 50 gm
•Salt – to taste
•Refined coconut oil to fry – 1 kg (about 50 ml)How to prepare
First soak the rice in water for two or three hours. Drain well till it becomes clean and powder it. Now sieve it through a fine sieve and keep it aside. Grind onion, garlic, cumin and salt all together and extract coconut milk completely. Now mix the coconut milk along with the crushed items and make a mixture. Start roasting the rice flour and continue stirring. When it gets hot, add coconut milk mixture to form fairly stiff dough. Divide the dough into small balls and make them into a cylindrical shape. It is to be rolled out into 7.5 cm (3") diameter rounds. The cylindrical or tube shape can be made by shaping a round bamboo stick of 1.25 – 2 cm (1/2" – 3/4") diameter or wrap it around your finger to get the perfect shape. Fry it in hot oil till it gets crisp. Drain it well on paper. Allow it to cool and store it in an air tight container. You can have this snake with your tea or coffee. It is a special snake which is favourite for the people in Kerala and is very simple to make also.
