Yam (chena) Mezhukkupurati Recipe
Yam is an easily available vegetable in our home and in market. Yam contains oestrogen which is required for woman. We can try different recepies with Yam like mezhukkupuratti,thoran,fry moru curry puzhukku etc. It is a very tasty vegeteble with light sweetness. Introduction
The season of Yam runs from october to December.200 Varieties of Yam are available. Rich in vitamin C,fiber,Manganese and potassium. It controls blood sugar level and symptoms related to menopause.
Ingredients required
1.Square shaped yam – 2 cups
2.Turmeric powder - ½ Table spoon
3.Dry chilliy - 3
4.Mustard - ½ Table spoon
5.Cumin seed - ½ Table spoon
6.Oil - 1 table spoon
7.Curry leaf - 1 spring
8.Coconut - scratched 5 Table spoon
9.Water - ½ litres for boiling

Method of preparation
Step 1: Put a bottom thick dish into the oven.
Step 2: Then pour ½ litres of water.
Step 3: Allow it to boil .
Step 4: Then add the square shapely cut yam into this.
Step 5: Allow it to boil for 5 minutes.
Step 6: Then add ½ spoon of salt and turmeric powder in this.
Step 7: After boiling decant the water.
Step 8: Then in the same pan add 1 spoon of oil and then mustard, red chilli and curry leafs.
Step 9: Then add boiled yam.
Step 10:Mix it well.
Step 11: Add tamarind juice
Step12: Grind the coconut with garlic and cumen seed.( Don't grind too much).
Then add this into the dish.
Step 13: Again mix well.
Step 14: Add 1 spoon of coconut oil and remove it from the oven. It is ready to serve
