Story of Varsham Malayalam Movie
The theme of Varsham film revolves around a father whose attitude and way of life changes completely with one single incident. Venu (Mammootty) has just returned to Kerala after a long duration of work in the Gulf and has settled down in his hometown with his beautiful wife Nandini (Asha Sarath) and only teenage son Anand (Master Nabeesh).
Venu opens his own finance firm under the name Anand Finance, which becomes one of the most successful firms of its kind within a short span. Venu himself admits through the movie that most of the success was earned through crooked ways. Both Venu and Nandini are the kind of parents who use their son as a trophy to show off to the neighbors in their colony. In the process, they enroll him for singing, swimming, karate and several other classes, oblivious of how the pressure is affecting the young boy. Anand is a very likeable and compassionate character who seems very contented from the outside, but his inner turmoil on seeing his parents fight almost daily does not go unnoticed.
Everything is normal until one particular incident turns the family's world upside-down. The father who never hesitated to hurt others in order to protect his son finally learns that it is also important to use your luxuries for helping other people who are in dire need of it. His entire perception of life changes with that one incident. Dr Jayasree (Mamta Mohandas) acts a catalyst in making Venu realize the joy in giving happiness to others. He starts utilizing his firm to do service for the society and in turn becomes much more successful than before. But this is not accepted well by his competitors who get together to fight against him. The rest of the film revolves around how Venu tries to find a meaning to his life by accepting the reality and using his abilities to benefit the society.
The entire cast has done their part in the movie extremely well, portraying the characters in a realistic manner that it brings tears to the viewer's eyes. Needless to say, there cannot be a better actor in Malayalam other than Mammootty to portray the role of Venu. He has gone into the skin of the character and makes it seem realistic. Asha Sarath has very good screen presence and has done justice to her role and the same can be said about Mamta Mohandas who looks very smart in the doctor's avatar. A special mention has to be made of Master Nabeesh, who plays the role of the son so well that you wish the film had more of him.
