Mar Baselious Institute of Technology of Science [MBITS], Nellimattom is an emerging private self financing engineering college in Kerala. The college which is established in the year 2009 is under the auspicious Mar Thoma Cheria Pally, Kothamangalam. The college is under the affiliation of Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and has the approval of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. The campus which spread across 11 acres of land is situated on the side of NH 47 and is on the way to famous tourist spot, Munnar. Dr Palouse MM holds the principle position of MBITS. Presently college offer 5 B.Tech Degree courses in addition to 3 M.Tech degree courses. Well qualified faculties are the real asset of MBITS.Mar Baselious Educational and Charitable Trust
Mar Baselious Institute of Technology of Science [MBITS], Nellimattom is owned and managed by Mar Baselious Educational and Charitable Trust, Kothamangalam which is established in the year 2008. Besides MBITS, there are many institutions under the ownership of trust such as Mar Basil Higher Secondary School, Mar Baselious Dental College, Mar Baselious Medical Mission Hospital and Mar Athanasius International School.
Mode of admission
Mode of admission in Mar Baselious Institute of Technology of Science, Nellimattom is on the basis of merit. All students should pass in plus 2 and All Kerala Entrance Examination for the admission to college. On the basis of merit, 50% seats are filled and remaining 50% is on management quota. There is tuition fee waiver scheme and various scholarship in the college for bright students. Management students too have attractive scholarship in the college.
Well maintained instructions and rules MBITS
Many instructions are given to students and parents for the well functioning of college. Students are adhere to the prescribed dress code inside the college campus. All students are directed to be in their respective class rooms before 9.00 am. Those who late should produce a permission note from the HOD before entering the class. College not permitted the use of cell phone in the class. Also taking of photograph inside the campus require written permission of the principle. There is two staff advisors for each class, they will be looking after all academic activities and advice them in all matters. Parents are requested to meet the staff advisors occasionally and especially when a student fails in the examination. Also there is special classes for week students and the attendance in these classes is compulsory. B.Tech Engineering Courses in MBITS
1) B.Tech in Civil Engineering - 120 seats: Civil Engineering is regarded as the mother branch of engineering. It holds a superior position in the engineering fields. Basically it involves the study of major construction projects such as dams, roads, bridges, buildings etc. Mar Baselious Institute of Technology of Science provide a total of 120 for Civil Engineering.
2) B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering - 120 seats: Like Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering too have a remarkable position in engineering field. This oldest engineering discipline involves the study of tools and machines. 120 seats are avail in MBITS for Mechanical Engineering. Well qualified faculties are the real asset of ME department. There is spacious workshops for Mechanical Engineering with fully fledged equipments.
3) Electronics and Communication Engineering - 60 seats: Even though it is a new engineering field, earlier it was a part of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Electronics and Communication Engineering covers the topics such as signal processing, image processing, microprocessors, telecommunication, power system, industrial power, optical devices, nanotechnology, photonics etc. 120 seats are avail in MBITS for Electronics and Communication Engineering department.
4) Electrical and Electronics Engineering - 60 seats: Broadest branch in engineering disciplines is Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Mar Baselious Institute of Technology of Science provide a total of 120 Electrical and Electronics Engineering. It mainly deals with manufacturing and operation of electrical and electronic equipments. Now a day's a good electrical engineer can get jobs in the many fields such as IT, power, construction, manufacturing etc.
5) Computer Science and Engineering - 60 seats: Even though it is a new branch, there are wide job opportunities for this course due to the tremendous development of IT field. Specifications of Computer Science and Engineering include algorithms, computer vision, embedded system, network security and cryptography, processor architecture, systems and networking, software engineering etc. 120 seats are avail in MBITS for computer Science and Engineering. Hostel: There is hostel facilities for girls in the college. Hostel is situated within the campus. Delicious messes are also arranged here. Each room in the hostel is well spacious and are set with all required facilities.
Central Library: MBITS have a well equipped library with many volumes of books, magazines and periodicals. Staffs are appointed in the library for maintaining the discipline. Students can either refer books at the library itself or can bring to home for further reference. Each student can take book in hand for a period of 14 days and thereafter it will be fined with 1 rupee for 1 day. Issuing of every books is computerized and is through the bar code scanning of ID card.
Seminar Halls: All department of the college have seperate seminar halls each of which has a capacity of more than 100 students. Each hall is well spacious and are designed in a very good manner with proper audio and visual facilities, very good seating arrangement etc.
Power supply: Mar Baselious Institute of Technology and Science has an 11KV transformer with well structured distribution network to meet all the facilities in the campus. Also there are generators of different KVA's to use, especially when there is a power lose in the college. Contact Details
