How to save our environment
On every year on World Environment day, a lot of seminars, press conferences and publications are made regarding how to protect our environment. But all action ends there. It is heard that earlier Kerala was well known for its cleanliness. But what we see today makes us shameful.
What is the condition of the roads? We cannot control spitting here and there. No civic sense can stop us from doing that. We through garbage every where. Thanks to Kudumbasree. They are doing a great job. After Attukal Pongala last year, the roads were cleaned at a faster pace. This deserves mention. These are exceptions. What about others? Does our duty ends here. We need to find ways through which we can educate everybody to come forward to keep our state cleaner and environment friendly. The media can help us a lot in this regard.
Nowadays there is mass cutting down of trees on the road side. These trees had provided us shelter. There are promises to plant new trees. But how long will it take to grow? The United Nations Climate Change Conference was conducted at Copenhegan in December this year. We are all aware of it. But still we are paying a blind eye to it on the name of development.
We have to be aware that development exist only when the world and each one of us survive.
