Eravikulam National Park


Eravikulam National Park. is located in the Idukki district of the state of Kerala.

Eravikulam National Park is placed in the in the high ranges (also popularly known as Kannan Devan Hills) of the Southern Western Ghats in the Devikulam Taluk.

Eravikulam National Park has an area of 97 kilometers which consisits mainly of the high altitude grasslands interspersed with sholas. This is located at an altitude of 2000 m above sea level. and is of the undulating terrain. The highest peak is Anamudi which is 2690m above sea level.

You can find three different plant communities at the Eravikulam National Park, they are grasslands, shrublands and the green forests. Mainly, the high plateau regions and the hills above have grasslands, bases of the cliffs have shrublands and the shola forests are located in the valleys and folds. Turner's Valley is the deepest and it also splits the valley roughly into two from northwest to south east.

How to Reach Eravikulam National Park


You can reach the Park both from Kochi and thiruvananthpuram airports in Kerala as well as Coimbatore and madurai airports of Tamil Nadu. You can get hired vehicles to take you to the place from the airports. Bus transport is available from these airports to reach Eravikulam National Park.

Munnar is the nearby town just 13 kilometers away from the Eravikulam National Park and it is well connected with all the major cities and towns of Kerala and Tamil nadu.

There is only one motorable road inside the park which passes through the southern extremity inside to Rajamalllat Tea Estate. There is another road leading to Muduvakudy but is not motorable at present. You have to be literally on your feet when you are at the Eravikulam National Park.

Entry fee for Indians Rs. 15/- per head per day
Entry fee for foreigners Rs. 200/- per head per day
Entry fee for children below 12 years
and bonafied students on tour Rs. 5/- per head per day
Fee for video and movie cameras Rs. 2000/- day
Fee for ordinary cameras Rs. 25/- per day

Entry fee for vehicles
Heavy vehicles Rs. 200/- day
Light vehicles Rs. 50/- per day
Others (Two and three wheelers) Rs. Rs. 20/- per day

Film Shooting
Commercial Film Rs. 10,000/- per day
Documentary/Education film
/Commercial Photography Rs. 5,000/- per day
Security deposit for all categories of film Rs. 10,000/- per day
