It seems that Kerala is 'Hartals' own country' and not 'God's own country'. People in Kerala are forced to enjoy the long day hartal holidays and not the scenic beauty of Kerala. We are having hartals for anything and everything nowadays. Even the simple issues ends in hartals. And the great political parties of the state are always supporting this this great menace of the state.
Kerala is the state with more hartals a year. There are more than 50 hartals in different parts of the state every year. Think we are loosing one seven of the working days in the state. And these hartals are the evil spirits in the development of Kerala. Yes, knowingly or unknowingly we are loosing some important days to make Kerala the real God's own country.
You must have been remembering the ban of bandhs by the High Court in the state to facilitate the normal life of people. But, it is simply remains a ban on the name. The concept is still going on under the name 'Hartals'. So we are in desperate need of another ban.Actually why the politicians don't understand we are draining our great manpower. When other states are working hard to find a good place in Kerala, why we are "celebrating" hartals? We are the state which has more literacy rate in the country, India. But these hartals may be the outcome of lower primary education of our great leaders.
In the constitution, it is written that we all are having the right to move and travel. But what these hartals are doing? Are they really negotiating our right to move in the country? Although this is a very serious issue, no one is taking care of this. The hartals are suspending our right to work to earn. You all must have seen the poor Malayalees sitting in front of the railway station, bus station and all. Even the Political parties conducting hartals across the state are denying the basic necessity to get hospitalized. Pregnants delivering their child in the roads is not a shocking news to Keralites. Similarly, the death of patients in the road sides is also not different.
