Introduction-Thenmala
Thenmala is one of the beautiful ecotourist spot in 'God's own country'. Thenmala is a small village in the foot hills of western ghats which is about 72 kms from Trivandrum, The capital of Kerala.
The word Thenmala is originated from Then+Mala, here Then means 'honey' and Mala means 'hills', combination becomes the 'honey hills'. The honey collected from the Thenmala is a good quality food and have high medicinal value.General information about Thenmala

Thenmala is near Punaloor in Kollam district. It is about 72 kms away from Trivandrum. Bus service is available at any time from Kollam and Trivandrum. Visitors coming from north kerala can approach via Punaloor and those coming from Tamilnadu can reach via Thenkasi.

Thenmala consists of many broad walking structures, pathways, sway bridge, plaza etc, which are some of the best places to spend our leisure time. This zone is very good for mental refreshment.
Nakshathravanam:- It is a tree garden consisting of 27 trees representing 27 birth stars. You will be blessed to see all those 27 trees in Nakshatravanam.
Butterfly safari:- The butterfly safari park is a great location to see very rare butterflies. The best time to watch varieties of butterflies is pre-monsoon, that is before monsoon lashes in to Kerala. The time to visit abundance of butterflies is September-October. You can decide your timings as your desire and interest.
Musical dancing fountain:- The timed rythamic splashing of water, sound and lights in the natural background. Such a natural ambience is a rare seen and hence a special and authentic experience.
Sculpture garden:- Thenmala has a beautiful sculpture garden. The sculptures related to Meditation, Father and Son, Vikramathithya and Veethal, Akalavya etc are some of the famous works.
Boating in the Shenthuruney Wildlife Sanctuary:- It include a one hour boat journey enjoying the unique scenic beauty and hillocks of high lush evergreen forest to a road leading to Shenthuruney Wildlife Sanctuary. We can see many elephants , bisons, sambars etc on the way.
Deer rehabilitation centre:- These are established to give protection for deers. We can see variety of deers here, including Spotted deer(pulliman), Sambar deer, Barking deer etc..
Tree top huts:- They are hut like structures made on the top of the tree. Staying in this huts provide a different experience and a place to take some rest after watching all features in Thenmala.
Palaruvi falls:- The name itself refers Palu means 'Milk' and Aruvi means 'Streem', combining 'Milkstrem' falls. It is said like that because the fall resembles the falling of milk like a stream. This is located 13kms away from Thenmala.
Adventure zone:- The adventure zone of Thenmala consists of Trekking, Mountaineering, Valley crossing, Pedal boating, Flying fox, Trampoline, Short range, Archery, Spider net, Burma bridge range, Trust falls etc. These all are very interesting.Accomodation facilities
