Thekkady is a difficult place to reach by air and rail since it is a hilly area. The nearest Airport is Nedumbasseri Airport which is about 190 kms away. The nearest Railway Station is Kottayam which is 110 kms away. Those tourists reaching at Cochin and Kottayam can hire tourist cars and jeeps which are always available. Cheap KSRTC bus services are also available from Eranakulam and Kottayam.
Ideal Time to Visit Thekkady
The best time to visit Thekkady is between September and March. These months are preferable because, in rest of the months in Kerala, we have monsoon and many of the special animals and birds here live in their hideouts. So we cannot see them. So it is recommended to visit between September-March.
