Vaikkom Mohammed Basheer
Vaikkom Mohammed Basheer is India's one of the most successful and outstanding writers. He was a good Malayalam fiction writer. Basheer is known for his unconventional style of language. He did not care about grammatical correctness of his sentences. He simply used village language. Basheer's works have found their way into hearts of readers; perhaps no other writer has had such an influence on the way malayali's view.

Basheer wrote short stories, novels, skits and even an occasional play. The really unusual thing about his stories is that they are funny, but in a lingering sad way. His style was open and simple.
Basheer took part in Indian freedom movement. He played an active role in struggle and even went to jail for it. This part of life was to help him in his writing later. He described the misery of prison in many stories.
