Kerala, a narrow coastal stretch of land adhering to the Arabian Sea is a consortium of novelties. Occupying an area of 38,863 sq kms, it has an invigorating climate, a mind blowing landscape with interwoven lagoons and lakes which stretch to a horizon bounded by rugged hills and forests. In fact it's a land where green, blue and gold are the defining colours painted on its canvas by the universal creator. Green for the green vales and tropical lushness, blue for the azure blue lagoons and the mighty Arabian Sea lapping its coast and gold for the golden sands of its pristine beaches.
The spice scented shores made it a flourishing port and thus paved the way for traders from across the world. The invaders brought with them new technologies, foodstuffs and religions, all which Kerala embraced and made its own. Adaptability and openness to the outside world continue to be the central point to Kerala's character. Behind its success lies its long standing policy of universal education inculcated right from the colonial period, patronized by the rulers, and after independence by the subsequent governments. Its traditions and ritual arts have been kept alive by continued patronage. The world's elaborate holistic medicine, ayurveda has also been kept alive for thousands of years and today its fame is spread worldwide. Politically, Kerala holds a unique record of being the first state in the world where communists came to power through democratic means. Kerala has a past that reveals a period of feudal supremacy, foreign invasions, protests, upheavals and social reorganization. Today, Kerala is a land of promises for a bright future with high strides of development in information technology and its efficient manpower has established the global presence of Keralites in every field.
With Kerala as one of the top most destinations of India, the tourism industry is flourishing. It offers the visitors an exhilarating experience with excellent infrastructure and accessibility options.
So, Kerala is – not just the land of coconuts but a land blessed with nature's bounty - How true !!! the tender coconuts of Kerala though it is available anywhere the sweetness of "nadan" elanir is not to be found in the pouches that are available in pouches in abundance in USA. In other words either this as a source of foreign exchange earnings has not been exploited fully or is it shunning away from agro-based products and settling for the hightech dotcom boom.
