Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in between Anamalai ranges of Tamil Nadu and Nellampathy Ranges of Kerala. Actually Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary belongs to Palakad district of Kerala, the God's own country. It was developed in the year of 1962. The total area Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary is some 48 sq km. Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary also contain three dams built by the government of Tamil Nadu. Many crocodiles can be seen in the banks of rivers of Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary.

It is the home to large number of elephants, sambar and lion-tailed macaque etc. They make the wonderful world of Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary into a paradise for its visitors. The most important aspect of Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary is the shelter for more than 260 feathered species of Kerala. The three dams here are Parambikulam, Thunakadav, and Peruvaripallam dams. They belong to Parambikulam-Aliyar Project.

Parambikulam Wildlife is a cool, calm and beautiful place of Kerala. Visitors could enjoy the fun of Heavy Rainfalls here at Parambikulam Wildlife during the months of June to August. Delightful fact is that the average rainfall of this place is around 1800 mm annually. The view of hillside is also breath taking during evenings.

When to Come to Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary
Best time to visit is from August to February as the sanctuary closes in summer season and monsoon seasons. Sanctuary also closes during the time of forest fire.

1) By Bus: - Two hour journey to Parambikulam from Pollachi.
2) By Rail: - Pollachi Railway Station, about 60 km from Parambikulam.

3) Vettimukku Island: - Equipped with all necessary facilities, located in Small Island, suitable for six members of a family.
4) Over Night Camping: - It is offered by machans, each machans could stay 5 persons each.
5) PWD Inspection Bunalow: - It is situated at Thunnakadavu.
6) Hotels at Pollachi and Coimbatore: - There are many hotels at Pollachi as well as in Coimbatore, provides fife star facilities to you.
