How to pick good fish
Many recipes on karimeen(pearlspot) is coming in the forum, most of the karimeen is harvested from thanneermukkom kayal in alleppey. This fish will taste mud as these fish feed on mainly clay. The best one is from kayamkulam kayal. Medium size karimeen costs rs 350 per kilo now.kayamkulam kayal extends from karuvatta to karunagappally.Likewise, the karimeen from shasthamkotta lake also feed on clay
If clean it well the clay smell will disappear. Take a wide pan put some salt and rub both sides of the fish to clean out any scales left. Cut open the belly side and clean inside. Then rinse in running water till the fish get clean.
It is a delicious fish. I do not bother the price to buy and enjoy it.
