The cheerful days are coming back once again in year 2011 in the name of Indian Premier League. The Franchises are busy right now to select their players. The players auction for the year 2011 will be conducted on January 8th and January 9th 2011. Bangalore is decided as the venue and 416 players are in the card for the auction. IPL 2011 will certainly be an interesting one with new teams, new players, new rules and also with out Lalit Mody. We can be able to see 74 matches with 10 wonderful teams including teams from Kochi and Pune. The fourth season of Indian Premier League is different with its new policies and rules. As per The Retention Policy for IPL Auction all the teams can retain four of their key players in squad. They are not forced to do if they don't like so. Taken the advantage of this rule, Mumbai Indians has retained Sachin Tendulkar, Keiron Pollard, Lasith Malinga and Harbhajan Singh. Chennai Super Kings got hold of M S Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Albie Morkel and Murali Vijay. Same way Bangalore Royal Challengers retained Virat Kohli even dropping Anil Kumble and Rahul Dravid. Sehwag retained in Delhi Dare Devils, Watson and Warne in Rajasthan Royals. Kings XII Punjab and Kolkatta Knight Riders have released all their players. Rules were also introduced for Price Budget for the IPL Auction 2011. The total team expenditure was restricted to 9 million dollars which again include the retained players. Not only that, as per the new rule, each player has given an opportunity to reserve their price and the franchise cannot buy them for a lower bid than they reserved. As per the new rule, the reserve price is categorized to three categories.
First Tier-(Amount- $400,000): Daniel Vettori, Brendon McCullum, Ross Taylor, Adam Gilchrist, Brett Lee, Shaun Marsh, James Anderson, Kevin Pietersen, Stuart Broad, Graeme Swann, Luke Wright, Michael Yardy, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, Yuvraj Singh, Graeme Smith, AB de Villiers, Mahela Jayawardene, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Brian Lara, Chris Gayle.
Second Tier (Amount- $300,000): Jacques Kallis, Muttiah Muralitharan, Zaheer Khan, Yusuf Pathan, Shaun Tait, Andrew Symonds, Angelo Mathews and Kumar Sangakkara.
Third Tier (Amount- $200,000): Sourav Ganguly, Gautam Gambhir, Shakib Al Hasan, Michael Hussey, Doug Bollinger, Dirk Nannes, Eoin Morgan, Robin Uthappa, Sanath Jayasuriya and David Hussey.
