Share Hold Over Kannur International Airport
Kannur International Airport project is implemented on Public Private Partnership (PPP) basis and on a Build Own Operate (BOO) model. The Government of Kerala will own 26% share over the prestigious project.
Remaining 76% of the share is shared like this:
•23% with Public Sector Undertakings
•2% with other institutions promoted by the Government
•49% with private individuals and institutions.
As a matter of surprise, Kerala Government has been getting very good response from different investors. Kannur International Airport Project Structure
• The 200- acres Kannur International Airport will have a single runway in the initial stage of operation. T he acquisition of the land is in the final process.
• The Kannur International Airport project will also focus on related projects like Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) etc.
• Creation of outside infrastructures namely roads, railway, power supply, water, tourism/hotels are under progress.
• Roads to be developed as a part of Kannur International Airport Project are:
Kannur - Mattannur Road
Thalassery - Mattannur Road
Payannur - Mattannur Road
Karnataka Border - Mattannur Road
Mattannur -Anjarakkandi - Thalassery Road
Wayanad - Mattannur Road
Mahi - Muzhuppilangad by pass Road
Nadapuram - Thalassery road
•Under the project, Kannur-Mattannur road will be developed as the main route to Kannur International Airport. The development on this highway will be done soon.
•Thalassery railway station will be linked to Mysore railway station for the most sophisticated transportation and access to the airport. Kannur International Airport Railway Station is under the proposal of Government.
•The Kannur International airport runway is oriented at 07/25 to permit the obstacle free approach.
