The Election Commission of India, the official authority which supervises and provides guidelines for elections in the country, had declared last year that Assemly Elections would be held this year in the States of Kerala, Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory of Puducherry.
As per the directive of the Election Commission of India, all the Chief Electoral Officers of these States & of Puducherry must complete publication of the electoral rolls by the end of January 2011.
