Karayilekk Oru Kadal Dooram is the debut film of the award winning producer Vinod Mankara. The film has Indrajith and Mamata Mohandas in lead roles. The film also has a huge supporting cast includes Sarayu, Dhanya Mary Varghese, Lakshmi Sharma, Jagathy Sreekumar, Nedumudi Venu, Devan, Sreeraman, Bijukuttan, Anoop Chandran, Sudheesh, T P Madhavan, Salu Menon and Sreedevi Unni.
The film tells the story of a celebrated writer Anoop Chandran whose life revolves around four women. His selfish character spoils the life of these women, although he has unique relation with each of them. The first women is Sathyabhama(Dhanya Mary varghese), from his college days. The faith played and he now marries to Meera(Sarayu).
But the writer is now have an affair with the renowned dancer Gaadha and all the way, it upsets Meera. The fourth one is devi(Lakshmi Sharma) who appears and then gone without any trace at some times and Anoop don't know much about her. Gaadha opted Anoop to go for his native to find his love. They start a journey and the things gone worse. The writer has a special ability to seen future things that turn out to be true. He saw some incidents and is it happens in his life? Recently, Indrajith is very selective in choosing roles. In College Days, he delivered a decent performance. The character of writer with an unconscious mind needs to maintain a sober mood through out the film. He succeeded in it. After Kadha Thudarunnu, Mamta once more proved why she is here, with the role of an ambitious dancer who manages to live a happy life with the married writer.Dhanya Mary Varghese looks beautiful in that 'dhavani and Pavada' style. Sarayu and Lakshmi sharma has limited roles to play and they did it well.
The main plus point of the film is its music. The film has some songs penned by O.N.V. and composed by M.Jayachandran. The director himself also written some songs. But the placement of songs in the film is bad since there is no need for some songs. The other technical departments like Editing by Mahesh Narayanan and cinematography by Bejoys are average.
The film belongs to a confused genre since the director failed to placed it in a desired genre. It could have been more better, if the director approaches the theme with more passion and put some more efforts to it. In its current form, the film is a one time watch for true film lovers.
