In January 26 1930, Pt Jawaharlal Nehru was unfolded our national Tricolor flag at Lahore for the first time and established an independent Indian National Congress. Then in 1950 26th January, the Indian became republic and its constitution came into power. Later, in 1965 January 26, Hindi language was affirmed as the Indian official language. How India celebrates Republic Day


Republic Day celebration is not same as Independence Day. There is main difference in pattern of celebration of these two national days to mark its significance. Republic day is considered as people's day on which the pledge is renewed. On Independence Day, the past is remembered.
Each year Republic Day is used to celebrate all over the country with much enthusiasm at all level of the secretarial units like the principal cities, district headquarters, sub divisions, Talukas, and Panchayats. The leading ceremonies are conducting at Delhi, capital of India and the state capitals. The President of India will deliver Republic Day Speech and Message on this national day.

Parade in Republic day on January 26 at Delhi


Republic Day parade is one of the most celebrations which are held on this special national day. This is a long grand parade which is held at New Delhi, from Rashtrapati Bhavan (President's House) to the historic Red Fort pass through the Raj path which is past India Gate.

At first in the celebration events, the Prime Minister of India will wear a headdress at the Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate, honors all the Jawans who lost their lives for the country with a 21 gun salute, immediately the President will unfurl the Tricolor Indian National Flag and the National Anthem will be performed. By saluting to all soldiers in such a way will begin the Republic Day Parade.

folkThere will be a noteworthy foreign Head of State who is invited as Chief Guest by Indian officials in Republic function to accompany with the President of India. Next in Republic Day Parade, The President will pass national bravery award winners in open jeeps and will take the salute. Afterwards the Indian Military will display their latest acquirement like tanks, missiles, radars, etc. soon after this display President who is the Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Armed Forces will give all the bravery awards and medals to the soldiers from armed forces for their outstanding courage in the field and also to the selected civilians who have performed themselves by their courageous acts in different conditions. Then Indian Army helicopters will fly and showers the parade area by rose petals on the audience.

The military parade is followed by a colourful cultural parade. India's rich cultural heritage is depicted in the form of tableaus from various states. Each state depicts its unique festivals, historical locations and art. This exhibition of diversity and richness of the culture of India lends a festive air to the occasion.

daySoon after this the various government department and ministries of India will present related plots and display their involvement towards the progress of the nation. The most attractive section in the Parade will come next to it. The march past on elephants will perform by the children who are national bravery award winners, from all states of the country. School-children from all over the country will also contribute in the parade by performing folk dances and singing nationalistic songs. Afterwards adventurous motor-cycle rides will be performed by skilled armed force soldiers. Next will be the most eye-catching show from the part of Indian Air Force is the fly past. Indian Air Force will symbolically salute the president while their fighter planes roar past the dais. With this performance the republic Parade will be end.

pm rallyThe Republic Day celebration is a three day show. On second day January celebration will be held at India Gate. Prime Minister's Rally is held by a group of N.C.C cadets by performing stunning displays and drill.

Beating the Retreat in Republic Day Celebration



The end of Republic Day show is by beating the Retreat officially. On the third day after the Republic Day, the evening of January 29, closing ceremony will take place. Closing ceremony is known as beating Retreat ceremony. This starts by the various band and bugle performances of marching in harmony and famous arching tunes. Followed by this band marching there will be Drummer's call, solo performance by the Drummers. Afterwards Ghandhiji's favorite tune Abide with Me will be played. Then there will be created an exciting atmosphere by making chimes of the tubular bells. Then announce call of buglers for retreat from Band Master after requesting the permission to take bands away from the President will be played. The Retreat will perform by playing the popular martial tune Saare Jahan Se Achcha. Followed by this at 6 PM, the National flag will bring down and winding up the Republic Day celebrations to a formal end by playing back National Anthem.
