Kerala Government forms a committe For NRK Welfare
Kerala Government formed a committe for the welfare of no-resident Kerala contract workers. The committe has 9 members belonging to major political parties of the State. This committee will into the NRK welfare issues.
Kerala Government Committe For NRK Welfare
Kerala Legislative Assembly has formed a nine-member committee for Keralite contract workers abroad. The committee, chaired by K.V. Abdul Khader of the ruling Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), will review policy matters and proposed bills concerning the expatriate population more closely. It will have legislators from major political parties as its members. The members are:
1. Abdurrahman Randathani, Indian Union Muslim League
2. V.D. Satheeshan, Congress party
3. N. Rajan, Communist Party of India
4. K.P. Mohanan, Socialist Janata Democratic
5. Varkala Kahar, Congress party
6. George M. Thomas, CPI-M
7. K.T. Jaleel, independent legislator
8. P.T.A. Raheem, independent legislatorFunctions of the committee
• Review the functioning of various schemes launched by the government for the welfare of the Kerala expatriates
• The utilization of the Pravasi Welfare Fund
• Hear complaints from the public
• Suggest solutions to various problems confronted by the expatriates
