Kerala Cabinet met in thiruvanthapuram took decisions on important issues. This includes levying of toll for newly-buiilt bridges, implementation of RVG Committe Report, and a judicial probe into Pullemedu tragedy among others.
Kerala Cabinet Decisions
Kerala Cabinet met in Thiruvananthapuram decided to amend Road Act and Road Review Rules to introduce toll on bridges built at an outlay exceeding Rs. 3cr. Toll will be collected for a period of 15 years for bridges built at an expenditure of Rs. 3cr to Rs. 10cr, and bridges above this will be under toll for a period of 20 years.
Cabinet also decided to order a judicial probe into the Pullumedu tragedy. Government will ask Kerala High Court for a sitting Judge to do the probe.
Cabinet accepted the RVG Menon Committee Report on Education. This report recommends that Malayalam should be made a compulsory language in schools among others. Government will ensure that existing employment cadres are not lost as a result of new reforms.
Cabinet decided to delink Audit wing from Cooperation Department. A new Co-operative Audit wing will be instituted under Registrar of Co-operation.
Eligible teachers of Kerala Kalamandalam will be given U.G.C Scale. Thirteen new seats will be created for postgraduate courses, and 3 for undergraduate courses. Thirteen new teachers cadre will be created.
Posts of 67 conductors in KSRTC, now on Empanel Service, will be regularized subject to rules.
Malabar Cancer Centre will see the creation of 86 new employment cadres.
