The College Of Fisheries, Panangad
The College of Fisheries at Panangad, Kochi is one of the three such institutions in the entire country. The College of Fisheries was established in 1979. The College of Fisheries offers Degree, Postgraduate and Ph.D programs in Fisheries. Admissions are made through entrance examinations (Medical stream) conducted by the Commissioner of Entrance Examination (CEE), Government of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram.
The College of Fisheries, Panangad
The college of Fisheries, located at Panangad, Kochi, was established in 1979 under the Faculty of Fisheries, Kerala Agricultural University (KAU). The college offers 4-year bachelor degree program, B.F.Sc, aimed at producing highly motivated, technically qualified manpower in fisheries to meet the requirements of fast expanding fisheries sector in the state and other parts of the country. In addition to B.F.Sc, the college is also offering postgraduate programs in various streams and also Ph.D programs. This is one of the three fisheries colleges in the entire country.
Kerala government is also setting up a Fisheries University in the state. This university will have the college of Fisheries at Panangad as its head quarter.

These departments offer undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D level programs.
Courses Offered
B.F.Sc: This program has a duration of Duration 4 years (8 semesters). Fifty seats are available. Eligibility: Plus Two or equivalent examinations recognised by Kerala Agricultural University with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as subjects. 15% seats are ICAR quota. 6 seats are reserved for the children of fishermen
M.F.Sc: Duration of this program is 2 years. Specializations are available in Aquaculture, Fishery Biology, Processing Technology and Fisheries Extension, and Fishery Hydrography.
Ph.D Program: Ph.D. programs in Aquaculture and Fish Processing Technology are available.
Admissions
Admission is made on the basis of the entrance examination for various professional courses (Medical stream) conducted by the Commissioner of Entrance Examination (CEE), Government of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram. Admissions are based on rank obtained in the above examination. Centralised Allotment Process ( CAP) is followed by the CEE for admission to B.F.Sc course.
Consultancy: Scientists of this college take up consultancy projects in different parts of the country. In Karnataka and Gujarat, prawn hatcheries are being set up by the consultancy team.
