Kerala Forest Festival 2011 to be start in february 6

Kerala will host the fourth conference of Southern Forest Ministers in 2011 at Thiruvananthapuram. Union Minister for Environment and Forest Jairam Ramesh will inaugurate the conference. Kerala had hosted the first conference of Southern Forest Ministers four years ago. Forest Minister Benoy Viswom at a press conference announced that Forest Department would conduct Forest Fest 2011 from February 6 to 10, showcasing the achievements of the State in the sector in the context of the International Year of Forest.
The organising committee comprises the chief minister, the forest minister and other ministers, opposition leader, MPs, panchayat presidents and others. Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan will formally inaugurate the festival on February 7 at 5 p.m. at Kannakakunnu Palace, the venue of the forest fest.
Seminars on environmental issues, food exhibition of Adivasis, cultural programmes by Adivasis, book exhibition, etc in the five-day festival. There will be stalls for Various government departments w with a separate counter for the sale of forest produce.
