My Stamp - India Post's Innovative Way to Boost Business
Faced with substantial erosion in mail business and the lackadaisical attitude of general public, India Post has decided to come out with a novel idea. Postal Department is now going to introduce personalized postage called My Stamp. This means that sender of a mail can stick his photo on the envelope in place of stamp. Before, this area was exclusively reserved for great men like Mahatma Gandhi. The new reform gives the common man an opportunity to join the ranks of this privileged group.
The scheme will be launched on Feb 12Highlights of My Stamp
* Will be Introduced in World Philatelic Exhibition which is to be held in Delhi Next Week.
* You can place your picture on the stamp.
* Customer has to bring one's own or spouse's photo with an ID Card.
* Stamp Background in 6 themes.
* Themes include Taj Mahal, Tale of Pancha Tantra, Trains, Wildlife, Aeroplanes and Sun Signs.
* Rs 150 for 8 stamp sheets.
* Only individuals can avail this facility now.
* Initially available in selected Post offices only.
The stamp will be divided into two parts – the currency part and the photograph – separable from each other.
Personal mailing is one business that is hard hit by the onslaught of internet technology. Now people hardly send mails through Post Office. Postal authorities hope this new measure will revive public interest in personal mails and boost business.
