As of now, they have the best players in the cricketing world. They are currently standing top on the table in the ICC ODI cricket ratings. Australia is the only team to win the World Cup four times. They also clinched the last 3 world cups in a row.

In 1975 World Cup, Australia found the way to final, but was defeated by West Indies by 17 runs in the final. In 1979 Cricket World Cup, Australia failed to qualify to knock out round (Semi-Final). In 1983 ICC Cricket World cup, Australia again failed to qualify to knock out round. In 1987 World Cup, Australia reached finals for the second time and they clinched the world cup for the first time by beating England by 7 runs. In 1992 World Cup, Australia failed to reach the knock out round. In 1996 world cup, Australia made a comeback by reaching the finals, but failed to win the finals. They last the match to Srilanka by 7 wickets. As a reply, in 1999 Cricket World Cup they clinched the world cup for the second time by beating Pakistan by 8 wickets. Thus they leveled with West Indies for winning the World Cup twice. They continued the same performance in 2003 and 2007 World Cups. In 2003 they clinched the cup by beating India by 125 runs and by beating Srilanka by 53 runs in 2007 World Cup.

Australian Cricketing fans are expecting the same performance that the players have shown in the past 3 World Cups. Currently Australia is standing in the top position in ICC ODI ranking. They also performed very well in their last series against England and won the series 6-1.Austrakian team is well prepared for the world cup. But some of their major players failed in the fitness test due to injury. M Hussey is one among them.
