Nokia who lost the ground Competing iPhone and Android-based devices in the international market, finally chose wisely to join hands with the software giant Microsoft . Nokia 's share of the smartphone market fell from 38% to 28% in 2010, according to monitoring firm IDC. The deal was made in rapid pace; the talk began only in September 2010. Nokia and Microsoft got in to the deal within 5 months after the talk. Nokia was also considering with Google's Android,but Nokia CEO Mr Elop chose Microsoft where he worked until joining Nokia .
Nokia the Finland based mobile phone Company made deal with the Microsoft , to use Microsoft 's Windows operating system for Nokia 's smart phones. Nokia is currently using its home built operating system called Symbians.The new deal will sideline the Nokia 's existing home made operating system Symbians. But currently most of Nokia 's devices run in symbians platform, even though Nokia is turning to Microsoft , Nokia will continue to use symbians in their devices; they expect a sale 150 million symbian phones in future.
Nokia is not considering Windows for Nokia 's tablet phones, Nokia will continue with the existing ecosystem. Nokia is reserves the right to introduce tablet with other plat forms like Meego and Symbians. Meego was the platform which Nokia expected to use in their smart phones and tablets.Microsoft 's Bing will power Nokia 's search services, while Nokia Maps would be a core part of Microsoft 's mapping services, though there is no confirmation on when the Nokia- Windows phone will launched.
According to the the Nokia management such a deal will lead to substantial job losses in the world and as well as in the Nokia's home country Finland. CEO Nokia Mr Stephen Elop added that the job losses is some thing that cannot be avoided, since Nokia is suffering in the global market in competition with iPhone and Google Android devices, for Nokiathere is no other way but to switch from the ailing symbians to windows .
