Future of computers
It is amazing thinking about future of computers
The future of computers
Computers are the part of our life today so their future should be studied. Computers will help in the human needs by thinking itself . computers have robotic nature.
Not only has the computer made possible calculation far beyond human capacity; but it is certain to alter radically the whole of our thinking about quantitative methods in calculation and creating solution. The only even remotely comparable incident was the introduction of Indian numerals in to Europe in the Middle Ages. The computer is certainly no substitute for mathematical thought at least,not yet. But it could stimulate mathematical thought in new directions. Several modes of approach which were simply not formerly considered because the calculations would have been prohibitively time consuming, are now very much within the ken of ordinary researchers, thanks to the modern high speed computers and advanced technology.
Other aspect of electronic computers, with almost unleashed possibilities of extension in the future, is the ability to translate and code any type of sensory data in all ways. Now electronic reading and speaking and translating machines exist, and there are possibilities of speeding up direct communication between minds and it is the trend today, based on the physiology of the brain system;
We are so far from these regions of fancy and fantasy. But the potential is always there, and has to be recognized. It is at once exciting and frightening. Exciting in the possibilities it could afford to further human culture, to expand the horizons of his potential for excellence; but also frightening in its capacity for miuse. Already the fantastic memory and storage of large computer networks are being used by commercial interests for consumer interest, by governments for civil espionage, and by military for enchancing the effectiveness of missiles and weapon devices. We can imagine how the nuclear scientists felt on the eve of the first atomic test explosion. Here was a product of modern technology, capable of wiping out the human race from the face of earth, and also capable of supplying it with inexhaustible energy for moderating life. That brings us once more to the contemplation of man and his nature. The atomic energy and the electronic computer; these are but the latest of a long series of toys or rather tools, that have come within his grasp; starting from fire. And just like fire, these can also be used for improving our life, and also for destroying it. There is no evil, and there is no virtue; inherent in these. The evil and virtue reside in ourselves. Perhaps that is why we should take care that cultural and moral evolution and development of our society should keep pace with its scientific and technological progress and technological innovation.
