Read about Diabetes- Cause, Prevention and Diet.
Hi readers, I am here to say a few words about diabetes. India stands number one position among patients with diabetes. Now let's see what is diabetes and how it occurs? Diabetes occurs mainly due to lack of insulin production and utilization. There are two major types of diabetes. One is type 1 diabetes and the other one is type 2 diabetes. Diabetes is also considered as a genetic disease. If parents are having diabetes, then the chance of getting diabetes or the risk factor is high. Over consumption of sugary foods often leads way to diabetes.Chance of occurrence of diabetes is more common among old age people than among children. Gestational diabetes is another type of diabetes seen among pregnant women which will disappear after delivery. But the chance of developing diabetes in later stages of their life is more among these women.
Now we will see the precautions taken in order to prevent diabetes. Try to avoid foods with more carbohydrate concentration in their diet. Rice, pastas and diary products like ice creams are some of the food items with rich sugar concentration. These food items increases the blood glucose level to a maximum. Insulin dosage in adequate amount is given as a remedial measure for controlling diabetes. Amount of insulin level to be given is determined by blood glucose test. Continuous blood glucose monitoring is preferred for better knowing of the accurate blood glucose level. Some patients use insulin pumps to inject insulin to their body. These pumps are automatic in function and will be attached to the body of patient. Hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia are two conditions of diabetes. Hyperglycemia means high blood sugar level where as hypoglycemia means low blood sugar level. Hyperglycemia can be managed by taking insulin dosage in required amount. But hypoglycemia need food intake rich in sugar concentration. Nutritionists prefer intake of complex foods like rice and cereals for hypoglycemic patients. Reason behind this suggestion goes behind metabolic rate of body. Simple sugar components are easily metabolized than complex food items. Sugar candies and sugary beverages like coffee, tea and wine are examples of simple sugar food items.
Finally, we will see the diet needed for diabetic patients. Patients are often advised to take fibre rich food items in their diet. Food intake with protein and fat concentration lowers the blood sugar level in the body. Obesity, hypertension, high cholesterol level etc comes under major boosts for developing diabetes. Avoid the intake of alcohol and fried meat. White meat like chicken is preferred over red meat like beef. Take small amounts of meals in specific intervals of time and keep snacks in between so as to maintain the blood sugar level. Apple, guava, strawberry and kiwi fruit are some of the favourable fruits for a diabetic patient. Patients should create a preplanned diabetic diet for proper control over diabetes. Healthy lifestyle with proper medication helps in controlling diabetes to a great extend.
