Kerala, 'Gods Own Country' will host the 35th National Games in December 2011. Kerala is holding the National games for the second time. Kerala had conducted this event in 1987. Shri. R S Gavai, (Governor of Kerala) is the Patron-in-Chief for the games. The Chairman of the meet is Mr V S Achuthanandan, Honorable Chief Minister of Kerala and Shri. M. Vijaya kumar (Hon'ble Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs, Sports & Public Works) is the president for the 35th games.
Kerala had secured 7th position in the 34th National Games held at Ranchi. So kerala will be expecting a much more better performance in the coming National games. The climatic condition of Kerala will be advantageous to Keralite athletes and players. 35th National Games will certainly boost the sports ethos of the people of the State, especially the younger generation. This will create a awareness among them of the importance of the games.It will create awareness among the sporting youth that training under modern facilities can create the required talent for competing in national or international events. This National Games will expand the sports infrastructure of Kerala giving the present generation a much better training facilities. The Logo and Mascot for the games has been already published.
