Priyadarshan's new Malayalam film 'Oru Marubhoomi Kadha'

The legendary director Priyadarshan has made lot of super hit films both in Malayalam and Hindi. This article tells about his latest movie which is being shot in Abu Dhabi and is yet to be released. Abu dhabi has given its full support to shoot the film and we hope that he comes out with yet another blockbuster hit.

Director Priyadarshan and actor Mohanlal are such a deadly pair and watching them in action is like looking at a perfect married couple who can understand each other and communicate so well with just a glance. Their new film Oru Marubhoomi Kadha is being shot at a villa in Abu Dhabi's Khalifa City. Because of the excellent coordination between the director and actor, most of the scenes are taken in one take itself. This understanding would have only come gradually as it is their 43rd film together. Mohanlal has also done a Hindi film with Priyadarshan. The fiery duo have come together now to create a film after almost six years, as Priyadarshan did not do any Malayalam film during this duration. Their functioning partnership started in 1984 and their union has produced many gem of movies, including Chitram and Thalavattam. They have had a 90% success rate as a duo. The acting prowess of a veteran actor like Mohanlal and the valuable expertise of a legendary director like Priyadarshan can never fail when put together.

Some of their blockbuster films were Chithram, Kilukkam, Thalavattam, Boeing boeing and Vandanam.

This new film is a drama which is shot in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. It is the first time that a Malayalam film is being entirely shot in Abu Dhabi. It is a story of a Malayali expatriate and has been taken in a comic style just like most of Priyadarshan's past films. He is very skilled in delivering really awesome films which have both comic and tragic touch to it. The film features the deserts of the UAE, Yas Island in Abu Dhabi and the Corniche. It is expected to finish shooting by mid of April and is scheduled to release in October with a premier at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival.

The Gujarati girl, Laxmi Rai plays Mohanlal's love interest in the new film. She is yet to master the Malayalam language and says that it is a very tough language to learn. It is her 4th film with Mohanlal. It was during the shoot of this film that the Hollywood director James Cameroon gave a surprising visit to Priyadarshan. Cameroon is a fan of Indian films and is planning to shoot his next film in India soon. He made his visit so that he could have little hands-on experience. Normally Priyadarshan never delays his shooting schedule but this time he halted the shooting in the desert so that he could have a productive chat with Cameron as such opportunities don't come everyday. Being a diplomatic and punctual director, Priyadarshan knows exactly how to handle situations and was even able to make big superstars like Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan come to the sets on time. For his new flick, many UAE based filmmakers and students have been invited to join the production as interns. Its cast also includes Karthika menon.

This is Priyadarshan's first film after a long gap of 6 years. In this time, he was busy in Bollywood making remakes of his hit Malayalam films, most of them doing quite well even in the Hindi industry. A lot of adaptation have been made to his Malayalam films according to the tastes of the Bollywood audience. Sometimes even new characters have been introduced to give the story a fresh script. Without such changes, it is quite impossible for Malayalam films to work in Hindi as the attitudes and views of both the audience are completely different.
