Sonia Agarwal to be seen on Malayalam screens
Sonia Agarwal, who has not done wonders on the screen lately, due to various reasons, including lack of big projects, will now try her luck in Mollywood. After her diverce with director, Selva Raghavan, she was recently seen in a brief role in the Tamil movie ‘vaanam’, which didn’t do wonders at the Box Office. Born on 28 MARCH, 1982, this 29 year old Indian model and actress, is best known for her roles in Kaadhal Kondein and 7G Rainbow Colony, playing the characters of Divya and Anitha respectively. Both these films were directed by her ex-spouse, Selva Raghavan, who she had married in December 2006.CAREER
Her limelight career began as a child, when she got an offer from Zee TV. She later made her film debut in a small cameo role,in a Telugu film Nee Premkai in 2002, following which she acted in a Kannada film Chandu with Sudeep.
Her winning performance as Divya in Kaadhal Kondein, a huge success, opposite the director Selva Raghavan's brother Dhanush, marked her as a prominent actress in the Tamil film industry. The role also let her grab hold of several awards, including the ITFA Best New Actress Award. Her next hit film was the controversial 7G Rainbow Colony, from the same director, in 2004. Other films include Kovil and Madhurey, opposite Silambarasan and Vijay, respectively, Oru Kalluriyan Kathai and Oru Naal Oru Kanavu in 2005. After the failure of her two films in 2005, she played a role in Thiruttu Payale directed by Susi Ganesan, which became a major hit. While that film came to her success, another film called Pudhupettai, did only moderately well in the theatres, which is also her most recent film, even after three years of its release. Her next film, Karu Pazhaniappan, is still remaining to be released.
After her divorce, she has said to be seen in a Telugu movie, Upendra, as a widow. Also, the actress is believed to be seen in a Malayalam movie, opposite Mukesh, directed by Mohan Kupleri. The movie will be on sets by next week, and the actress will shortly reach Cochin for the same.
