Logos Hope in Kochi: Have a visit to the world's largest floating library

'Logos Hope',world's largest floating library is now at North Coal Berth, Willingdon Island which came on May 25th,2011. This ship will be in cochin till June 21,2011. As a part of the arrival of the ship an exhibition of books will be opened for the public from May 26 – June 13. There are around 50 lakh books with more than around 7000 titles. The prime motive of the vessel is to travels around the world and to promote good literature there by raising money for charity and undertaking community projects to foster cultural exchange.
As per information that we got directly from the crew members of the ship is that there are around half a million books with a wide selection of different titles on education, cookery,technology, history, philosophy, individual development, personal growth , encyclopedia and novel etc.
There are 400 crew members in the ship who works as volunteers representing fifty different countries.
Logos Hope belongs to GBA Ships, a charitable organization based in Germany. In 40 years of its journey, the GBA ships have visited more than 1400 ports in 160 countries. One time 1,000 visitors can visit the ship. The ship will be opened to the public from 10am to 8pm (Tuesday-Saturday) and 2pm to 8pm (Sunday and Monday). There will be a entry fee of Rs.50. Children under 16 who is accompanied by an adult can enter the ship free of cost.
