Raagam 2011- The Cultural Fest of National Institute of Technology, Calicut

Raagam is the cultural festival of National institute of technology, Calicut. It is the second largest cultural fest in India. Raagam is the perfect stage for talented minds. Raagam showcases various events from Eastern dance to Fashion show.

This is my personal experience of Raagam 2011.

I have heard lots and lots about Raagam from friends and seniors. So we first years were awaiting for Raagam from the beginning of first semester. Raagam is the successful culmination of students in NITC and staffs. The efforts for Raagam are made from the beginning of sem. Seniors give us orientation and introduce us to the much awaited cultural fiesta RAAGAM. We were super excited about the whole event. And something much more exciting about Raagam 2011 was that it is Golden Jubilee Raagam.

Finally Raagam practice began for various dance and dramatics events. We along with seniors worked after class. Various flux boards were drawn and painted for decorating the Rajpath of NITC. Each Raagam unleashes with a brand new theme. Creativity of students are explored. The themes and various events are exciting. Students of architecture have an appreciable role in all these efforts. They also had to work on Archi-stall which they had put for Raagam. Various hand made articrafts are displayed for sale in the stall. The stall was filled with jewellery for women and men, lamp shades, perfumed candles, photo frames, etc etc. Even the last minute hues and chaos we bring up the excellent works. Raagam pad work was worth an experience.

Finally the much awaited Raagam begun ! Rajpath was decorated and Stalls were put up in both the sides of Rajpath. Various events like Couture boulevard, Treasure Hunt, Mr. and Mrs Raagam, Rosebowl Talking Point , Movie Spoof , Senate Debate, Mock Press, Dumb C, Pot Pourri, AdZap, Raagam Photography, Videography, quiz etc etc were there. In addition there were Salsa workshop and kite flying workshop. Various gaming events were also organised. The most alluring is the fashion show with different themes. The most exciting among all these is RAAGAM CHOREO NIGHTS ! Various singers rocked the three raagam nights. Stephen Devassy, Suvi Suresh, Blaaze- the jai ho team's performance were mind blowing. The sizzling and sensous voice of Sunidhi chauhan were perfect for a rocking night. Last but never the least The junkyard groove also performed well.

And with that Raagam 2011 came to an end.
