Tips for preparation of Kerala PSC Deputy Collector main exam 2011

1. Kerala PSC Deputy Collector main exam is not an easy paper to write. It needs a lot of practice in order to gain time management. Once one can gain control over time management, half of the work is done. Before beginning to answer the questions, read and understand the instructions written on the question paper carefully. To achieve time management, one should get quality training and lots of practice by solving out previous year's question papers. Keep a stop watch with you while you are practicing and check whether you are able to finish it within the time limit. Each and every time you practice, you should try to finish at a better speed from the previous time. The only way to gain speed is by trying out sample question papers. Candidates must take a lot of hard work as the questions come from various areas. Even during the exam time, allot specific time limits for each and every section of the paper and also stick to this time limit.

2. Keep your mind at ease and don't become a victim to tension. You can answer the questions properly only if you keep a clear mind or else you might make hasty moves which might cost you a lot at the end. Even one wrong answer can entirely change your ranking. To keep your mind alert and awake during the exams, it is advisable to eat and sleep very well the previous night. Don't stay up late in order to keep practicing or for revising. This will only hinder your performance. Reduce caffeine and high sugar products as though these things will prevent you from falling asleep at night, they make you feel drowsy the next day and reduces concentration.

3. Another thing to keep in mind while taking the exam is that there is negative marking for each wrong answer. Thus, it is a wise decision to leave those questions for which you don't know the answer. If you are not sure of any question, don't waste time on them and move on to the next question. After you finish the exam, if you still have time left, you can come back to the questions which you have left out and answer them only if you have some idea of the answer. Even one negative mark can cost you dearly as it will make a huge impact on your ranking in the rank list.
