Postal stamp in memory of K M Mathew
Read this article to know the details regarding the stamp issued by the postal department of India in memory of Shri K. M. Mathew, who passed away on 1 August 2010. Shri K.M.Mathew was the former chief editor of Malayala Manorama Newspaper. The stamp will be issued on 1 August 2011, which is the first death anniversary of Shri K.M.Mathew. The stamp will cost Rs 5 & the first day cover as well as the stamp will be given through selected post offices only.
1 August 2011 is the first death anniversary of Shri K. M. Mathew. As we all know Shri K.M.Mathew was the former chief editor of the Malayala Manorama newspaper, the most popular newspaper in India. Among the people of Kerala, Shri K.M.Mathew was popularly known as Mathukuttychayan. Apart from being the chief editor of this popular newspaper, he also occupied several positions in his career. This great person has also published Manorama Yearbook, Vanitha, The Week, Karshakasree, Balarama,Amar Chitra Kadha, Kalikudukka etc. For his great contributions, he was given the prestigious Padma Bhushan award. He passed away at the age of 93 after suffering from age related ailments. So in memory of shri K. M. Mathew, who was the chief editor of Malayala Manorama, the postal department of India will issue a special stamp on 1 August 2011. The stamp & first day cover will be available at selected post offices only. The cost of the stamp will be Rs 5.
