We Malayalees are familiar with the name O. N. V. Kurup, who is a famous poet in Malayalam language, commonly used in Kerala state of India. Apart from being a poet, he is also a lyricist & a professor in Malayalam language.
Throughout his career, this great poet had won several important awards including the highest civilian honors of India government like the Padmasree & Padma Vibhushan. The literary award 'Jnanpith Award' was given to this great poet for his great contributions.
The latest news regarding Padmasree O. N. V. Kurup is that he had won the 7th Mayilpeeli award instituted by the Kunhi Kannan Jewellery. This award was given for his excellent works in the field of literature & Kerala arts.
It should be noted that this award has been announced by M. Abdul Rahman, Chairman of the committee. The award that includes a statuette, a citation & cash prize of Rs 5000 will be presented to O. N.
