Kootukari - Onam special Recipes

This article gives you information like preparation of kootukari,what is difference between kootukari and aviyal. Also gives a list of ingredients for preparing kootukari and composition of each ingredients also specified here.

Kootukari



It is a curry ,it contains variety of vegetables and some Bengal gram.
The major difference with aviyal is that no tamarind added.
onam
Ingredients

  1. Chena dal-200gm
  2. Yam-200gm
  3. Banana-200gm
  4. Pumpkin-200gm
  5. Carrot-200gm
  6. Coconut- 1tbsp
  7. Coconut oil-2tbsp
    They following spices add according our requirement
  8. Chilli powder
  9. Turmeric powder
  10. Pepper powder
  11. Cumin
  12. Mustard
  13. Dried Chilly
  14. Curry leaves

Preparation Method

  • Cook Chena dal and add vegetables along with Chilli powder ,Turmeric powder and Pepper powder as per requirement.
  • Cook it up to 10 minutes.
  • Grate and grind coconut with Cumin add it to the curry.
  • And add salt to it.
  • Take another pan Add 2tbsp coconut oil,put Mustard ,Dried chilly and Curry leaves,then pour in to the curry.
  • Then remove it from fire.
