On the eve of Matha Amritanandamayi Devi's 58th birthday, various programs are being arranged at Amritha Puri near Kollam. Lakhs of devotes and visitors from different countries who visited Amritha Puri, to get the darshan of Amma. The ceremonies which began at 5 AM in the morning were followed by a speech by Swami Amritaswarupananda, the vice-chairman of the Puri Math. At about 9 in the morning the ceremonial Padapuja started.

• As per new initiative the Mata Amritanandamayi Math will launch a training program to recruit 10,000 home nurses in Kerala who are intended to meet the recruitments of those people who are homeless and stays in orphanages.

• Another creative movie is the arrangement of online education program titled as 'Free all-India Tuition Programme' for college students which is being supported by the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development. This program will be initiated through 'Amrita Virtual Interactive E-Learning World'.

A Little History About Mata Amrithanandamayi Devi


Mata Amrithanandamayi Devi born on 27th September 1953 is much popularly known as Amma(Mother). She is a Hindu spiritual leader as well as a guru who has wide range of followers. She is being respected by the world community for the humanitarian services rendered to the society. Mata Amrithanandamayi Devi born as Sudhamani Idamannel had an interest in helping the poor from the younger age. A large number of people who found a grace of hope in her followed the foot steps of Amma. With the interest of her disciples Amrithanandamayi founded a world wide organization – The 'Matha Amrithanadamayi Math' which is involved in a number of charitable activities.

Amrithanandamayi travel around the globe to give Darshan to her devotees. She has a large number of followers in different parts of the world which include United States of America, Australia, Canada, Dubai, England, Ireland, Italy, Mauritius and much more.

Amritanandamayi do give darshan for her devotees during special occasions. People spend hours to get the blessing of Amma.

Matha Amritanandamayi Devi's charitable organization had provided a hand full support to the people who had been suffering due to the disastrous Tsunami which hit the South of India in 2004.
